This is a 2 min COSLA Video from me…
Once upon a time I required 20 min COSLA videos. However, student submissions cannot be shown in class since there was not enough time. This is a sample of the same COSLA video with a 20 minute time limit.
Video is the current standard for student reporting: a timed, rehearsed, cloud-based, uploaded YouTube video on the assigned topic. This is superior to actual student reporting in a classroom while the rest of the class listens synchronously. The advantages are (1) asynchronous characteristic allows the learner the option as to when and where to learn (2) allows the assigned student to rehearse and submit only the best output (3) independence of the quality and availability of internet connection (as compared to a synchronous on-line class) (4) allows the entire class (professor and learners) to get the best from the entire class (5) ensures the time constraint is followed (6) allows learning and reference to the material even after the course ends.
However, in order to make the YouTube video, the student has to create the presentation in PowerPoint like below (and then add narration)…
Templates enable students to create professional, powerful business presentations based on how to tell a good business story as inspired by Steve Jobs. When the form is taken care of, the only battle is in the content. View and download the COSLA template below…
Here is the COSLA template that was used to create the above PowerPoint. The template simplifies and directs the entire learning process. Students can download this file from Slideshare (it is also included in the Google drive shared folder with students…)
For easy reference, below is a video demo on how and why it is best to use a COSLA template.
Below is another video demonstration on how to use a COSLA template for Marketing Management class. It may not have some content that is not applicable (like references to some files and chapter learning objectives) but the general idea will still be very helpful.
