Awkward. Unfamiliar. Strange. Hopeless? Promising!
In the midst of the sudden transition to online learning, teachers and students are slowly finding the challenges and reaping the rewards of the next normal of learning.
Make no mistake about it. We are at war!
We are soldiers fighting the enemy that was the old. We are at the frontiers of a war that came before we were ready. We are the frontliners of a new army of learners, battling ignorance and doubting Thomases, overcoming fears and unreliable internet connections. There is no turning back as the bridges for retreat back to face to face classroom learning have been obliterated by the virus. The only direction we can take is Forward.
Be Inspired: Watch Fr. Jose Ramon T. Villarin, President of the Ateneo de Manila University explains why being in the trenches is a once in a lifetime opportunity of inclusion, to go where no one has gone before!
We are at the age of exploration. Where before Jesuits boarded ships, to a foreign land, well this is a foreign land for us, the digital world. And we, Jesuits, men and women of the Ateneo are meant to be at the frontlines, the trenches even in education.
– Fr. Jett Villarin, President, Ateneo
Where are we now? Learning still requires a close collaboration between the student and the professor.
